Youth Mental
Health First Aid
9th to 10th October
27th to 28th November
At Allay Occupational Therapy, we are dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of young people. Our Youth Mental Health First Aid course equips adults who teach, care for, or support young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health problems and crises in adolescents.
This course teaches participants to provide initial support to young people (aged 12-18) experiencing mental health issues until professional help is available. Participants learn to identify signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, respond to crises, and understand available treatments and supports.
Using an evidence-based action plan, participants learn to approach and support young people, offering initial help and guiding them towards professional assistance. Graduates become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders), equipped to provide critical mental health support.
Recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a high-quality, effective program, this course is suitable for parents, carers, teachers, health professionals, sports coaches, and any adults supporting adolescents.
This 2-day course can be delivered face-to-face, blended with online self-paced learning, led by our experienced instructor.
