Supporting Adults
Quality of life is paramount to our therapists at Allay Occupational Therapy and is our central focus throughout our work. After all, what is life, without fun, passion, feelings of success, pride in ourselves, hope for the future and relationships that nurture us.
Whether a person has a disability, is recovering from an injury, or is managing a chronic condition, occupational therapy focuses on building self-awareness and self-efficacy (the belief that I CAN do things!), and finding strategies, tools and adjustments to help each person on their unique journey. OT’s are there to support you in practicing skill development that aims to integrate these skills in to their daily routines.

What is the role of an Allay Occupational Therapist?
Here at Allay Occupational Therapy, we work alongside individuals to identify and address their goals, through building skills that support the individual and their family at home, at work, and within their community.
Examples of how we support individuals and their support networks include:
- Building independent life skills, such as domestic living skills, and self-care skills
- Workplace support
- Learn to drive programs
- Developing skills to support mental health and wellbeing
- Sensory integration
- Energy conservation
Therapy plans are tailored to the individual needs of the individual, drawing from a wealth of innovative, evidence-based resources, and training held at Allay.
We highly value and advocate for collaborating with other supports such as doctors and therapists, to ensure a comprehensive, coordinated approach.
Who might see an Allay Occupational Therapist for support?
People who are experiencing challenges with their mental health, have been given a health or disability diagnosis, or are having difficulty with their everyday activities may benefit from occupational therapy.
At Allay, typical difficulties we support include Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, social-emotional difficulties, trauma, or behavioural difficulties.
Our Approach
At Allay, we believe in a holistic approach to therapy, bringing together an individual, their family, and their support network to build skills for a satisfying and meaningful life. Our team of passionate OTs bring together neurodiverse-affirming, trauma-responsive, and family-centred principles of practice to support individuals and their families across the lifespan.
