Reflex Integration

At Allay Occupational Therapy, we empower children to participate meaningfully in everyday life by supporting their neurological development through reflex integration.

Our approach is neurodiverse-affirming, strengths-based, and grounded in the latest evidence to help each child thrive in their own way.

    How We Support You

Our occupational therapists use playful, movement-based strategies to support the integration of retained primitive reflexes that may be impacting function. We work collaboratively with families to build:

    • Postural Control & Coordination – improving balance, core strength, and motor planning through purposeful movement.
    • Sensory Processing & Regulation – supporting calm alert states by enhancing the nervous system’s ability to process and respond to sensory input.
    • Attention & Learning – promoting focus and engagement by reducing the neurological load of retained reflexes.
    • Emotional & Behavioural Regulation – enhancing confidence and resilience through improved body awareness and self-regulation.
    • Functional Participation – helping children engage more easily in school, play, and everyday activities.

    Who Can Benefit?

Reflex integration may be beneficial for:

    • Children with motor delays, coordination difficulties or clumsiness.
    • Neurodivergent children (e.g., autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences).
    • Children experiencing challenges with focus, regulation, or learning.
    • Children with retained primitive reflexes identified in assessments.

    What to Expect

We begin with a holistic assessment that explores movement patterns, sensory responses, and developmental milestones.

Sessions are active and engaging, using games, rhythm, and play to support brain-body connection.

Families receive practical, sustainable strategies to continue support at home.

At Allay, we believe that every child has the potential to grow in their own time and way.

Through innovation, collaboration, and a focus on empowerment, we help children build strong foundations for independence and meaningful participation.
